25 Memes That Make Some Sense, But Not Too Much

What do you want out of your memes? The classic memes we all know and love are visually stimulating, funny, and not too wordy. There's one meme-describer that used to be a harbinger of the genre but has since gone totally out of style. I'm talking, of course, about "random" memes. Memes that weren't random were rare as little as 10 years ago, but as the sands of time have passed through the hourglass, being random has become more and more stigmatized. It's associated with the millennials of the early 2010s, who were twee, quirky, and proud of it. We've entered a far more cynical era, where writing earnest indie songs about how "We Are Young" are comically out of touch. Although being random to the point of not making sense is a little more in line with Gen Z's ethos, it's not something you would aspire to in mixed company.

  • These memes are not all “random” per se. They are arranged in a random order and do not bear any relationship with each other. Some make very little sense to me, and some might do the same for you. However you swing it, these random memes are here to stay.
